Jinhee Park appointed Distinguished Visiting Critic at CCNY
Jinhee Park has been been appointed Visiting Distinguished Critic at the Spitzer School of Architecture of the City College of NY. Jinhee joins a legacy of internationally renowned educators and practitioners that have included Billie Tsien, Merrill Elam, and Raimund Abraham. She will specifically extend her topic of ‘Micro Urbanism’ in an advanced studio setting. Instead of viewing density as merely packing more within less, her studio will examine how it can foster new programmatic and spatial opportunities, enriching the life of the city rather than merely making it more ‘efficient.’ A subset of the micro-urbanism research will be to study how to leverage existing and under-utilized conditions into new vital relationships rather than relying on erasing parts of the city that are deemed ‘obsolete’ by standards that ironically may be in and of themselves outdated.
